Sirah 151: Prophet ﷺ: The Perfect Role Model

This course focuses on the various roles of the the Prophet ﷺ and how he dealt with different people according to their varying natures and capacities. Students will learn the ways to deal with different people while balancing relationships. This includes the Prophet’s ﷺ role as a leader, statesman, husband, and father.

Fiqh 110: Fiqh of Taharah

This class focuses on Taharah which must be understood and embodied in every person, regardless of age or gender. Although the topic may seem basic, it holds great significance as a person’s worship may come into question if not understood correctly.

Arabic 111: Quranic Arabic

This course is designed specifically to develop an understanding of Arabic grammar that applies to the Quran. By going through this course, a student will eventually be able to have the ability to understand and apply Arabic grammar to the Quran, InshaAllah.

Quran and Tajwid Classes 2024-25

Quran 101: Quran Reading Foundations

For adults (15+) who are unable to read the Quran or are unable to read it fluently. This class will develop qaidah level skills for adults (letter recognition and joining letters and vowels). It will also focus on correct pronunciation of letters (makharij). Students who have completed qaidah will develop reading fluency and quality. The class will accommodate learners at various levels of reading prior to achieving minimum fluency

Quran 102: Tajwid

For adults (15+) who can read the Quran but need to correct their pronunciation of difficult Arabic letters, improve reading ability, and learn the application of basic tajwid rules (such as غنة، إخفاء، قلقلة). The class includes both a theory and practical component. In the practical component, students will apply what they have learned by reciting individually to the teacher. Separate classes are held for men and women, with highly qualified teachers. This class is intended for both novice students as well as those students who have taken this class in the past but would like to continue developing their tajwid beyond the beginner level.

Quran 103: Quran Reading And Tajwid Fluency

For adults (15+), this class assumes prior knowledge of tajwid rules and prior practice of correct pronunciation (makharij). This class is for experienced students to further their fluency in Quran (and Arabic reading) as well as to perfect their application of tajwid rules through practice.

Sisters’ Classes 2024-25

Quran Memorization & Tajwid

This class combines a structured tajwid learning program with Quran memorization (tahfiz). It is an excellent opportunity for sisters to spend mornings connecting with Allah’s book. Students will improve their Quran recitation to a high level, with a female reciter who has an ijazah in the Hafs mode of recitation. Sisters will also memorize the Quran in a structured format of new memorization and revision. Motivated sisters can pursue this program long term to complete memorization of the entire Quran. This class will follow the Quran Memorization (for children) calendar, except that the teacher may give an additional 7 days off in the year with advance notice to students.

Arabic 110: Access to the Divine Language

This is the first year of a two year course tailored for women who have grown in their love for the Quran and seek to deepen their understanding of it through the Arabic language. Focused on practice of the Quranic language, and coupled with the study of nahw (syntax) and sarf (morphology), the course offers a rigorous exploration of the Arabic language needed to directly understand the meaning of the Quran and classical texts. This course will allow hafizat to enjoy the beauty of meaning in Allah’s speech. It is also designed for those who have previous education in fiqh and Sirah. This is a great opportunity for those committed to enhancing their own knowledge of the Quran, with an aim to teach it further to their loved ones and the community.

Prerequisites: Students must be able to read the Quran. To continue after the 4th week, students must pass an assessment.

Hadith 102: Lessons from the Prophetic Sayings

Reading and explanation of select chapters from the famous hadith work by Imam An Nawawi, Riyadh Al-Salihin

History 151: Women in Islam

In today’s society, Muslim women are constantly being defined and redefined by popular media, cultural norms, and the Western world. Islam, however, provided us with a blueprint of what it really means to be a Muslim woman. In this course, we will explore the lives of prolific female scholars, leaders, and thinkers of the past. By examining their stories, we hope to motivate our communities today to emulate the bravery, scholarship, leadership, and entrepreneurship of these women. Join us to be inspired by the legacy of these women, as we strive to become better Muslims ourselves.
